The present Strong Motion Database (ATHENS-DB) of the Geodynamic Institute (GI), National
Observatory of Athens (NOA) includes strong motion records from the earthquake of
September 7th, 1999, which occurred nearby the Athens centre. For the maps of
the strong motion stations recorded the main shock and/or aftershocks click here. Records are retrieved from the permanent strong motion
network operated by G.I., as well as the local strong motion array operated
jointly by G.I. and Attiko Metro S.A.
In order for the user to use this database, MsACCESS 97,
WordPad and MsPAINT should be installed in his computer.
The database (records from the strong motion stations
during the period 7 September 1999 – 31 March 2000) is included in a CD-ROM,
also with the files read_me_first.txt (a help file), Network.bmp (a map showing
the installation sites of the accelerographs during the aftershock sequence of
September 7th, 1999) and Athint.bmp (an isoseismal map compiled by Dr. I.
Protonotarios (NTUA) and published in
Kathimerini newspaper, September 23, 1999).
The database includes information about the stations,
the earthquakes and the records. The uncorrected (raw data in graph and ASCII
format), the corrected (interpolation, baseline correction, filtering and
intergration in graph and ASCII format) data and the response spectra are also
included.
