SCIENTIFIC WORK

Involved as researcher in the seismology field for over 25 years, especially for the deployment and maintenance of strong motion networks, processing and modelling of strong motion data, development of databases.

Due to the Msc and PhD and the participation into the activities of the Geodynamic Institute, well experienced on subjects of:

· Signal spectral analysis

· Tomography techniques

· Signal transmission

· Collection and evaluation of macroseismic observations

· Database development

In charge of the strong motion network of the Geodynamic Institute (http://accelnet.gein.noa.gr), as well as for the macroseismic observation proceedure. Involvement in the Geodynamic Institute web page development.

Scientific leader of the following projects:

· Application and reliability of different approaches of seismic hazard estimation – Use and development of strong motion database (Greek – Czech R+T bilateral cooperation, 1999-2001).

· Reliability of different methods for the calculation of synthetic strong motion records in Greece (Greek – Georgian R+T bilateral cooperation, 1999-2001).

· Collection, processing and exchange of seismological data in Greece and Cyprus (Greek – Cyprian R+T bilateral cooperation, 2000-2002).

· Development of a unified strong motion database in Greece (in cooperation with ITSAK and AUTH, EPPO funding, 2000-2002).

· Network for rapid information on macroseismic and strong motion data from strong earthquakes in Greece (Greek – Czech R+T bilateral cooperation, 2003 - 2005).

· Development of a strong motion array on the hill of Athens’ Acropolis, funding by YSMA (2008-2009).

· Development and operation of the National Hellenic strong motion network (in cooperation with ITSAK, funding by EPPO (2009-2013).

· Upgrade of the Athenian Acropolis strong motion array – Collection and processing of strong motion data, funding by YSMA (2013 – 2014).

Publications in scientific journals (20) and in national/international conference / workshop proceedings (23 in full text and 23 abstracts). Furthermore, 30 reports and 8 Specific studies.

Involved as collaborator in ISTC projects in Caucasus and Central Asia area.

Involved in a large number of other national and EU projects.
