Geodynamic Institute has undertaken the maintenance, the control and calibration of the instruments and the data processing of the Cyprus strong motion network. Within this frame a special volume was published (Kalogeras, I.S. & Stavrakakis, G.N. (2002). Processing of Accelerograms recorded by the strong motion network of Cyprus. Period 1996 – 2002. Geodynamic Instit., public. No 16) and at the same time a database was developed under MsAccess environment.

Strong motion instruments in Cyprus are operated by three state organizations: the Geological Survey Department (GSD), the Water Development Department (WDD) and the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC). 

The spatial distribution of the instruments is presented here. The owner, as well as the type of the instrument is noted by different color and symbol.
