1 lb ground beef
1 15oz can pinto beans
1 15oz can red kidney beans, drained
2 15oz cans crushed tomatoes, drained
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 medium jalapeno, seeded and minced
1 1/2 tsp salt
1-2 Tbsp chili powder (to taste)
3 tsp dried oregano
2 Tbsp dried cumin
Dash of allspice
Dash of ground cloves
1 cup celery, sliced (optional)
1 cup carrots, sliced (optional)
Saute onions and garlic in oil. Add meat and brown, seasoning with salt and spices. Add jalapeno, beans and tomatoes (also the celery & carrots), and simmer for 30 min partly covered. Serve with rice or bread.
