• For several years, I was responsible for the Greek Seismological Network, operated by the Institute of Geodynamics, National Observatory of Athens.
• In 1999 I undertook the responsibilities in establishing the IDI station in Crete island, which is linked now (AS036) with the CTBTO (Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization) program of the United Nations. Since then I am the responsible scientist in Greece, responsible for CTBTO
• I have represented and represent the Institute of Geodynamics in different working groups or scientific committees in Greece.
• I have visited different countries of Europe as national representative at meetings and working groups.
• I have participated in many congresses, conferences, meetings and seminars with oral presentations in most of them.
• I have several publications in various professional journals, proceedings or special volumes.

SCIENTIFIC EXPERIENCE:

• Given that for several years I was responsible for the National Seismological Network, I have great experience on computing, signal analysis and on interpreting seismic waves.
• I was actively involved in the design of field experiments, with seismic data acquisition, as well as with the processing and the interpretation of local seismological arrays.
• I participated in various field experiments and successfully organised many of them. These dealt with the deployment of portable arrays in order to establish a systematic investigation of the structure of complicated seismological and seismotectonic regions of Greece, like southern and western Peloponnesus, the island of Crete, the Gulf of Corinth, etc. and to characterize the seismic behaviour of several faults and understanding the regional tectonics.
• As a leading member from GI-NOA, I have participated in the seismotectonic and seismological study of all the damaging earthquakes that occurred in Greece the last 25 years (Kalamata 1986; Ilia 1988, 1992; Kozani and Aigio 1995, Athens 1999, etc).
• By using satellite pictures, air photographs and modern morphotectonic aspects in the field, I worked on the detection and mapping of active faults in many areas of Greece (Crete island, Peloponnesus, Gulf of Corinth, central and northern Greece).
• In order to evaluate the seismic activity in the past and to obtain recurrence intervals of strong earthquakes generating from large faults in Greece (Sparta, Eliki, Atalanti, Mycenae etc) I have studied them through Palaeoseismological and Archaeoseismological methods and by using modern dating techniques as cosmogenic radiation.
• I am working in the development of a modern and accurate Database of seismogenic sources of Greece as a contribution for reliable assessment of Seismic Hazard
